Reuben Jenkins

Director and Registered Manager

Reuben is a founder Director of Carers Break CIC and also fulfills the position of Registered Manager for the service. Having co-developed the organisation from its inception in 2013, he now provides a strategic and development role across the organisation. With well honed skills in communication and public speaking and a background in business management in various sectors, Reuben continues to take an innovative and inclusive approach to recruitment, staff training and care delivery.

Enjoying active close working relationships with DWP, Seetec Pluss, Camborne College, Proud to Care Cornwall and others, you will find that his approach as an employer and care provider is firmly rooted in a diverse, positive and inclusive approach.

“The world is full of broken people, whether through personal trauma, health condition, relationships failure, financial challenge or previous criminal behavior, we should never write people off because none of us are just our worst moment. We exist to make a difference as both an employer and a Care Provider. That is our mission, delivered through kindness”

In his spare time, Reuben loves to play piano, spend time in the gym and cycle. Father of two, Reuben recently cycled across Northern France to help raise funds for Cornwall Hospice Care.

Suzanne

Office Manager

Suzanne has been with Carers Break since 2018. With a strong background in retail management,  she felt ready for a change. After seeing an advert for a Care Coordinator, Suzanne believed that her strong administrative history and natural empathy would stand her in good stead. Since then Suzy has progressed from Coordinator to ‘Hybrid worker’ which gave her hands on Care and support training and experience in addition to her Coordinator role. Now, despite growing her family of 6 children and running a home, Suzy has progressed since 2024 to the significant role of Office Manager. The role gives her the responsibilities for all Company administration, staff onboarding , HR due diligence and a crucial bridge between clients, staff and senior management.

Suzy likes to swim and socialise with the office team when she is off work and not running the kids around the county.

Sarah

Lead Coordinator

Sarah joined Carers Break in 2023 having spent several years working as a care worker in various settings both in Cornwall and Wales.  A former qualified childminder, primary school specialist teaching assistant and successful driving instructor, Sarah was perfect for the role of leading a team of Care Coordinators. Her insight and intuitive approach to work along with her willingness and ability to challenge the ‘status quo’ is key to enabling the Company to grow and develop its reach and  constantly improve our quality of care and support delivery. The role that Sarah fulfills is demanding and dynamic. Working directly with clients, commissioners and other significant stakeholders to ensure that every client or their representative receives the very best care and support  possible.

Sarah is Mum to a 16 yr old boy and step Mum to a 10 yr old girl. In her spare time she loves to swim, walk and go to the gym. Being Welsh she is a very keen international rugby fan. Despite her very busy schedule, Sarah will also be aiming to complete the Chester Marathon with Kirsty and the  ‘Saints Way Trek’ with Katie, both raising funds for Cornwall Hospice Care in Summer 2025.

Kirsty

Care Coordinator

Kirsty is the employee who brings most colour to the workplace. On her second tour of duty at Carers Break, having spent several years as a Care Worker in the earlier years of Carers Break, Kirsty left to pursue other challenges. However, in 2023 she was hunted down by Reuben who had always seen her value and she re-joined  to bring her considerable experience as a top quality Care worker to the new role of Coordinator. Her experience covers working with children, homecare, residential care and working in a Mental Health facility. Kirsty is enjoying this new role in her life and is a great addition to the team. All our Coordinators carry out Care and support work when required and Kirsty is loved by everyone we care for and the whole team.

In her spare time, In addition to bringing up her two children, Kirsty attends a local gym and loves to run at long distance events around the country. In fact later this year, you will find her running at the Chester Marathon to raise funds for Cornwall Hospice care

Katie

Care Coordinator

Katie, an experienced care worker when she arrived at Carers Break in 2018, quickly moved into the position of Care Coordinator. Katie, mother of one girl, is a valued team member and like Kirsty is now on her second stint with Carers Break having left for a short period due to health challenges.

Inspired and moved by how well her Grandad had been cared for, Katie saw a future supporting other families, as well as hers were. This she has certainly achieved. Katie is well liked and appreciated by our clients, their families and our team.

Katie enjoys her down time by attending the gym, spending time with family especially her young daughter.

Katy is another one of our intrepid fund raisers and is joining Sarah on the ‘Saints Way Trek’ later this year in aid of Cornwall Hospice care.

Marni

Care Coordinator

Marni is a force of nature and has a great eye for detail. Her ‘No nonsense’ approach is a great balance to the office team. She is a hard working Mum of three with a background in Childrens services. Marni joined the team in 2024 and has proved to be an excellent addition to the Company. Marni is definitely the right person in the right place at the right time. Marni has a very dry sense of humour and brings a wry smile to the office team whenever she is present. With great dedication and a highly proffessional approach to her work and all stakeholders, Marni is highly valued by the whole team.
