Live-In Support Worker

WAGES: Waking hours are paid at £12.60. Sleeping hours are paid at £12.21. There is a rolling rota that changes throughout the months to ensure that no one on the team works every weekend. The successful applicant/s will stay with client in the clients home during their rota’d hours. There is a seperate support workers bedroom. Drivers only need apply.

  •           At least 96 hours per month with some weekends included as part of a rota. Other work is also available for members of this team.
  •           All food and accomodation costs are included in this position.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The successful candidate will be supporting the client in all aspects of their health and wellbeing. The client has an aquired brain injury and this manifests as short term memory loss and some mobility vulnerability. Verbal communication is good and the client takes care of most of their own intimate personal care. The main purpose of the support is to ensure that the client is safe, well supported, accompanied to shopping trips, social outings and supported at home. This is an ideal position for someone who wishes to work in other another paid role elsewhere in Carers Break or outside organisation. Male or female applicants are encouraged to apply. The client has a great sense of humour, loves Tottenham Hotspur FC, watches lots of TV and likes going to the pub on a Friday evening to watch live bands and socialise.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To live with the client in their own home during rota’d periods.
  • To support and encourage the client’s independence.
  • To support Mobility and medication requirements where required.
  • To drive the clients motability car occassionally for shopping, hospital appointments or social outings.
  • To prepare of meals for both client and care worker.
  • To work with the client to maintain a clean and tidy home.
  • To complete accurate written and verbal reports after each session.
  • To undertake training as required to support your role.
  • Ensure the support plan is reflected in the client’s day to day life.

Relevant Experience: Desirable 

  • Experience of looking after a client, friend or family member.
  • Enjoys football- even better if a Spurs supporter
  • Reasonable home cooking skills.
  • Enjoys watching television soaps.
