I heard about Carers Break and got in touch with them to see what they could offer. They explained that they did not do short visits but always visited for at least two hours to ensure that relationships were built up, clients weren’t rushed and their needs were fully met…The staff are exceptional. They go above and beyond to allow my sister to get the most she can out of her life…They help her with her shopping, with meals, gardening, her hobbies, housework, washing, anything to allow her to live at home. They take her out and about to all the places she loves to go,the beach, coffee shops, the donkey sanctuary! They facilitate visits to our mum who is in a care home and our elderly auntie. They take her to health care appointments, check that she takes her medication, sort out her glasses and hearing aids. Moreover, the carers genuinely care about the clients. They take time to get to know them. They have fun and engage in meaningful ways. My sister views them as her friends. She has a wonderful life thanks to them. rom a families perspective I can’t thank Carers Break enough. I am my sister’s closest relative and unfortunately live 200 miles away from her. I was struggling to balance organising everything for her and managing my own life and the needs of others close to me. To be honest I was falling apart from being pulled in so many directions. I asked Carers Break what support they could offer to make things more manageable. They said they would be able to take on anything I wanted them to. They have taken over all day to day things with my sister. They also sort out big things, like finding builders when work is needed on her house. My quality of life has improved no end. I feel confident that she is being well cared for and is safe and I have an organisation working alongside me that not only supports Alison but also supports me. If I am struggling with decisions or the way forward with things I can call then to talk things through. The strangest thing about all of this is that Alison is probably the happiest she has EVER been. She is still living her very best life being supported by Carers Break.
