Headland Hotel Newquay hosts the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Care & Support Awards 2019
Friday 27th September saw the Care Sector equivalent of the Oscars. Tina Darrock, Co – Founding Director & Registered Manager of Carers Break, represented the leadership team and was joined by both representatives of the office based Coordinator team and frontline Care staff at this years red carpet event.
The keynote speaker and host was ‘Big’ Ian Donaghy. ‘Big Ian’ is a unique entertaining and dynamic keynote speaker with a diverse range of skills and experience. Imagine the energy of stand up comedy with a heartfelt message.
Winner of Care Trainer of the Year at The British Care Awards and accomplished presenter who is able to convey motivational, inspiring & emotive messages through his presentations & film making. He is also Author of 2 books; DEAR DEMENTIA & The Missing Peace, passionate fundraiser leading a campaign for older people in York; founder of ‘Xmas Presence’, ‘A Night to Remember’ and ‘Forever Young Music Festival’.
It was a fantastic night of celebration of what is undoubtedly the very best in Care.
The annual event was a partnership event laid on by Cornwall Adult Health & Social Care Learning Partnership, Proud to Care (Cornwall) and Cornwall Council.
Carer Break was privileged to Sponsor the ‘Hidden Treasures’ award. The winner of this award will be an individual who is highly valued by their care and support organisation. They may be hidden, working behind the scenes, but they are critical to the delivery of great care and support services. They could be the administrator, receptionist, cleaner, cook or maintenance person. The winners of this award were Shane & Shaun from Swallowcourt’s Maintenance team.
As the evening passed and awards were presented, the atmosphere became electric and a wonderful night was had by all who attended.
Afterwards, it was evident that the fun would continue, not least in the photo booths laden with fancy dress items for all to use!
A well deserved celebration of all that is great within this vibrant sector in Cornwall. A great night shared by great people.
